Visiting Taipei for the first time?    I dreamt of visiting Taiwan years ago, not for the delicious food nor the famous Taipei 101 but because I have been inspired by stationery and journaling personalities from Taiwan on Instagram.   I  was convinced that this is the book and stationery heaven I’ve been looking for!  Guess what?  It is!!!!

Here’s my book haul.  I bought these foreign books for the illustrations.  Eslite trip = success!!

Here are my Taipei must buys: chinese/japanese illustration books, stickers, washi tape, Traveller’s Notebooks, Hobonichi items, La Dolce Vita stickers, Bear stamps.   You can also buy the following Kaweco fountain pens that are exclusive to Taiwan and Hongkong: Rose Gold, Rose Quartz, Serenity Blue and Lagoon Blue.

I”ve compiled a list of places you can check out if you are a stationery and book nerd like me.  Click on the addresses to open a link to its location on Google Maps so you can plan your trip accordingly.    Easy right?  You’re welcome!!! 🙂

Spot the Eslite Bookstore – Xinyi in my washi map

I’m sure that you’ll be visiting the famous Taipei 101.  You’ll find these places a short walk away.

  1. Eslite Bookstore, Xinyi Branch

If you have limited time to visit other book and stationery shops, then I suggest that you at least drop by at this Eslite branch.  Among the shops I have visited, this store has everything.  There is a stationery section where you can buy journals, Rifle Paper cards, etc.   There are English titles at this bookstore, but I was personally hunting for Chinese/Taiwanese/Japanese books on illustration and scrapbooking for art inspiration. You’ll find a lot of those here.     Btw, it’s pronounced “Elite” not “Es-Lite”.   Hehehe!

Address:  No. 11 Songgao Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei

2.  Hands Tailung

Hands Tailung is the Taiwanese branch of Tokyu Hands from Japan.  In here, you’ll find your usual bargain beauty and homeware items.  They also carry affordable stationery items as well.  Traveller’s company TNs are stocked in this place too.  However, Hands Tailung’s inventory is not as impressive as their Japanese counterparts.

Address:  No. 12 Songshou Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei

A Sticky Situation – Organizing My Sticker Collection

Stickers have always been one of my neglected craft materials because I’ve always been afraid to use them.  I would think they are “too pretty to use” or that “they might run out”.  Lately, I’ve been using them a lot in my art journaling and creative planning so I decided to put them all together in one place to keep them organised, thus easier to use when crafting.  I went through all my scrapbook stuff and gathered all my stickers together.

A beautiful mess

Once I had them all scattered on the floor, I realized that they could be lumped into categories: planner, clear, label, illustrations, phrase and alphabet.  I’m putting them by category in  an A5 sized clear book, very handy to bring anywhere (an idea I got from my art titas, Rianne and Lai.)

My new addiction: Alphabet Stickers

I ran into a bit of a problem when I saw that I had stickers that would not fit into the A5 clear book because they were 6 x 12.  I decided to just separate these sticker sets and place them in an A4 clear book instead.

6 x 12 sized sticker sets

It’s so much easier to use my stickers now because I just need to take my A5 clear book with me whenever I journal.  Seeing all my stickers at one glance gives me a picture of how much I have already accumulated.  I’ve trained myself to think that going beyond one A5 clear book for stickers would be hoarding already.

How about you? How do you store your stickers?
